  • Neuroscience research has shown that the early childhood years are critical due to the brain’s ability to change with experience, also referred to as neuroplasticity.

  • In a recent report from the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop, researchers and educators strongly agree that, as in the case with language and literacy, STEM education must start early in order to maximize its benefits and effectiveness.

Every Child Need Roots to Grow STEM!


The STEM picture books that are presently available are only motivational and do not teach STEM concepts using real world examples. However, Boon-dah stories offer an "instructional" approach to storytelling. It is not the usual "motivational" tale.


  • Children learn actual concepts and introductory principles from the stories. The stories use fun and unconventional characters to solve problems in a way that allows children to apply STEM concepts to work in real life.

  • An additional benefit is that the stories are more picturesque and contains less words (~500 words), aimed for reluctant readers.


  • This concept arose through my personal journey of educational endeavors and being a reluctant reader.


  • The stories in the platform pair fiction and nonfiction work, embed reading strategies, and draw connections to standards-based science and engineering contents.

  • Meet Pumpus 'n' Pals! Boon-dah stories feature Pumpus the smart Pumpkin and his Pals, who go on adventures to solve problems using STEM concepts. Pumpus provides solutions to problems and in doing so, introduces STEM concepts that is "accurately represented."
